the Amplforth project?
Originally called Fragments, Ampleforth was co-founded in 2018 by entrepreneurs Evan Kuo and Brandon Iles. Ampleforth (FORTH Coin ) software uses Chainlink, a data provider built on Ethereum, to provide price data and is a protocol that seeks to incentivize a network of users to maintain a crypto asset with a value equal to the US dollar.
For example, DAI is backed by baskets of locked assets in the Maker protocol, while USDT is backed by dollar deposits in a traditional structure.
However, Ampleforth differs from other stable coin s in the way it maintains price stability. Instead of relying on deposits or lending and taking back, the protocol programmatically adjusts the supply of the AMPL cryptocurrency every 24 hours in a process called “rebase”. If the demand for AMPL tokens is high and each AMPL token exceeds $1, the supply will also increase. If the demand is less, the supply will also decrease. With this structure, AMPL draws a flexible picture which means that its supply can change. But as the supply changes, it means that users retain the same proportion of the total supply. This means that if you held 1% of all AMPL tokens before the rebase, you will still hold the same percentage of tokens after the rebase.
FORTH Coin?
FORTH is a new governance token that complements the AMPL ecosystem. Anyone interacting with the on-chain AMPL ecosystem can claim FORTH tokens.
The model is an extension of Compound Finance (COMP). Initial governance parameters are set when on-chain governance is deployed to ensure a fair system with appropriate incentives for all network participants. Like all stable coins
, AMPL tokens allow investors to reduce their exposure to the extreme volatility of many cryptocurrencies in the market. AMPL distributes it to users of the protocol through a system of points for those who make chain transactions with cryptocurrency. There are 15 million FORTHs printed at the Genesis event. The initial supply will be in place immediately, with future inflation set to 2% per year. 67% of the distribution is set to go to the community, with the remaining 33% going to the initial investors, core development team, advisors, and the Ampleforth Foundation. Community allocation is governed by a points system that is scored by on-chain activity.
In December 2020, the protocol was separated from Ethereum to offer multi-chain compatibility with integration with Polkadot, Tron, and NEAR.
